[BozemanLUG] cell recovery

Hey all, I've got a situation and thought I might ask the local linux crowd. A friend of mine was camping in the Utah desert and in the middle of the night she got hit by a flash flood. She was lucky to get out alive, but her phone was soaked and ruined. I know it sounds made up but it's really true. Anyway, she lost all her photos and was asking me how to get them back. The local gadget shop (Gadget Fix) offered to try for $800, and she doesn't have that kind of cash. Is there anyone interested in giving it a try?

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy, made in India. I don't know much about cell phones, and I'm worried the storage is soldered on. The phone itself is inoperable.

Much thanks for ideas, suggestions, or especially any recovery attempts. I think she's willing to pay some, just not in the 800 range.

Ryan
