[BozemanLUG] Linux "registry" file

At Thursday's Bozeman LUG meeting we discussed my task bar issues a bit and
since I have no custom settings it was recommended that I should reset the
configuration file.  the problem is I do not remember the name of the file
or the command syntax.  As described to me in layman terms, this would be
the Linux config file that is the equivalent to the Windows Registry.

Can someone refresh my memory of the file name and the syntax?
