Greetings,

After about 10 years or so... www.montanalinux.org has been refreshed with a new content management system.  The old site (now old.montanalinux.org) runs Drupal 4.  The new site runs Drupal 8.

While it might be "new" it isn't necessarily "improved".  One of the big new features in Drupal 8 is "responsiveness"... which is a fancy way of saying that the site should scale well to most common screen sizes including smaller, mobile screens.  HOWEVER, I have a lot of video content from the old site and they don't have (by default) any video management stuff so when moving over some of the original content... I'm noticing that the videos do not auto-resize and are fairly static.  There is probably a way to fix or improve that but I haven't figured it out yet.  Also, I've only copied over about 5% or less of the original content... but will be doing more over time.

Anyway... the new site isn't broken like the old one had become and the account system is functional... and I have not tried to migrate accounts from the old... so if you have an account in the old system, you'll need to create a new account in the new system.  If you had any content on the old system, feel free to add it back to the new system... but I do recommend you copy and paste the create time/date from the old to the new so the content has the same creation time as it had before.  That's what I'm doing on all content I migrate over.

Also, the comments system should be functional on the new site but those things can be a pain to keep the bad robots away from.

In any event, I haven't gotten it all figured out yet but that hasn't stopped me from deploying it.

If you didn't have an account in the past, I recommend you sign up for one... if you have any desire to share your Linux experience by making occasional posts to the site.  It has a reasonable WYSIWYG HTML editor now so adding content is much easier.

Anyway, I'm rambling now so I'll stop here.
